I really enjoyed reading your blog for this week. It was really well done. I liked your explanation of digital identity being “layers” . I think this provides a strong visual thought of just how complex these pieces of online contributions and communities can be. Personally I like making visual connections as I read so even providing some photo or even drawing to represent this could be a nice touch here. This made me think of layers of a cake. I thought it was an impactful inclusion having your personal list separating your personal and professional spaces or uses on different media, this was definitely an effective use of listing and made me further reflect on my own media use. I will add though that at times you might want to consider representing these lists when there’s multiple, in different ways as the list format may take away from the richness of the text you’re sharing just as it might restricts the depth you go into. Having a list with more support or context before or after may be more effective. Even making the lists more visual or formatting them in chart form might help differentiate styles and approaches in one blog for example. I also found it interesting that you included, “Never adding colleagues and co-workers to my personal accounts” to your list of steps in order to separate digital spaces as I actually find this quite difficult in some situations and I’m sure this is due to the type of work as well. This is something I’m trying to navigate more as well in keeping my own digital spaces more separate and aligning with who I want in that closer personal circle as online I feel like it’s much easier to just keep expanding this and not even notice. I also appreciated that you included your own Digital Visitor and Resident Map. This was very insightful. However, I wonder if you might consider including visuals like this in photo format rather than through a link as it can add some separation and enhanced engagement to the blog post. Finally, I really liked that you included the mention of privacy around location settings as this is something that totally skipped my mind during this week’s blog but I also find this so important even just to be aware of. It’s so easy to forget an app is tracking your every move, literally, as so many do. Thanks again for a great blog post!

What a great reflection from this week, I really enjoyed the layout of your blog. I thought your inclusion of integrated links in the text was helpful and added to accessibility considerations. I also liked that you use a personal voice or style in your writing. It feels more engaging in this way. I thought your reference to digital identity being like a coin with its specific sides and intentions for example really interesting and a memorable visual/descriptive example to understanding the different sides to this. I honestly don’t have any super critical suggestions for you, the layout and information within this blog was really well done and easy to follow. Maybe you might consider how to expand on displaying information in different ways whether through charts or more visual representations as this could help capture readers attention and avoid overwhelming information all in text form. Another consideration might be supporting your personal experience connections to topics with more emphasis from quotes or paraphrases from the week’s reading just to solidify thoughts and structure evidence throughout. Finally I did just want to add that I thought it was really insightful reading about your input and experience with these identities or the more professional side in relation to your (VBIS) work and accessing important information in the realm of health and science. As an educator I related to this idea of being able to use digital variations or platforms to expand tools and crucial connections or communities within my profession.
